This project has been one of our favourite undertaken in the last few years. This is partially due to the transformation that this project had, it really is unbelievable what the property looked prior to demolition. Not only this, the client was an absolute pleasure to work alongside.
Our client originally came to us and said they would like some designs for an extension of a 60s era bungalow. However due to complications regarding Asbestos the decision was made to start again! After controlled demolition of existing we had the opportunity to start with a blank canvas.
From the outset our client wanted a dwelling that will look very inkeeping with the local area yet have a modern feel. The two main materials that create this feeling of belonging is the flint stonework and the cedar cladding. The mix of these materials we feel has resulted in a superb influence on the design. Internally the house has a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area. This was one of the main points of the design brief as our client enjoys entertaining large groups of people. At first floor level there are two double en-suite bedrooms with a third twin bedroom. In addition to the large open landing it features a family bathroom with walk in shower and full size bath. Furthermore the annex features another ground floor kitchen, dining and living area with adjacent WC. The bedroom really set’s this annex apart from many other dwellings in the area, it benefits from the setting sun and a complete glazed front brings this beauty in.
Burnham Overy Staite is well know for its quiet retreats and calm environment. This dwelling certainly plays off this. A number of us at trundley have spent a lot of time here, it really is a relaxation sanctuary.
