Overview
After being disappointed with the work performed on this project by another contractor, our client for this job came to us for assistance. It was our responsibility to complete the project and remedy any subpar work.
Project
When we arrived on site, the project was already established above ground, including the floor slab, foundations, and a portion of the superstructure. Before finishing these works to the intended height, we had to first remove any broken brickwork from the external skin and timber frame from the internal skin. To make this extension weatherproof and sheltered from the elements, a flat roof was built utilising ceiling joists and a rubber roof membrane, which was then followed by the installation of the windows and doors.
To produce a floor that was level with the existing parts of the home, floor screed was applied internally over rigid insulation. After the screed had dried, plasterboard and skim were put in place and decorated before wood effect floor tiles were laid, offering a long-lasting flooring option that’s becoming more and more popular.
A new drainage line was created to finish the project, using the client’s pond for rainwater and an existing septic tank for waste water. A brand-new kitchen, air conditioning, and lights were all put in the house, filling the space beautifully and making it ready to handover back to our client.
Conclusion
Despite the fact that this project started a little differently than others, we are proud of what we were able to accomplish for our client. We were glad to provide them their extension to the required standards after they had a bad experience with another contractor. We anticipate returning to this property to do some exterior upgrades and add another two-story extension to the side of the house.
