Trundley Design Services were Initially engaged to provide architectural design services to Optima Metal Services on their ‘Building 3’ project which they had planned to start in May 2018. A large extension buidling on their existing site principaly created to accommodate their new tube laser facility. The initial decision to project manage in-house was ruled out and Trundley Group were offered the opportunity to become principal contractors. Working to a very tight deadline the project was succesfully completed to the clients satisfaction in the 12 week construction period.

The ‘Buidling 3’ project follows 2 previous extensions on the site. One of the largest projects to date for the company our design services team incorporated a number of changes to the design throughout including the integration of a 2 storey office block. The site and project contained a number of risks including the presence of a high pressure gas main and high voltage overhead power cables. Safety was therefore paramount and an independent site safety insepctor employedby the client visited on multiple occasion. With glowing reports received on all inspections.

The construction is comprised of a piled slab with loose bar reinforcement to take the dense load of steel stock. With portal steel frame and composite clad to provide a insulation to the building. Building size is 1245m2 with a 6m eaves height.

This was the first construction project undertaken for this client who for a number of years had used our design services. The project was completed on time and within budget. A good demonstration of our capabilities as a principal contractor. Andy Knowles, General Manager, Optima Metal Services had this to say “We would never of completed the project in the same timescale without the extremely professional team at Trundley. Their level of workmanship was exceptional, along with their attention to detail and their willingness to help”
