Trundley design working with Chalcroft Construction have been associated with Grocontinental since 1994, constructing a series of warehousing and cold store facilities as the company has grown.
Grocontinental have employed a controlled expansion programme, aimed at ensuring existing and new customer requirements are met, and has invested in a new truck fleet and new facilities. The site currently has fourteen storage chambers with varying uses, Chill, cold and dry goods storage.
The chill stores utilises glycol cooling system, accommodates nine racking levels, while the cold stores have an ammonia refrigeration plant, with six racks high mobile racking.
A key environmental aspect of the warehouses is the use of movement sensors for lights, which operate at 100 per cent when in use and dim to 30 per cent when no movement is detected.
The site is currently undergoing the construction of a new cold store chamber due for completion April 2013.
